The EPFL is located near Lausanne (Switzerland). Depending where you are coming from, you can reach the EPFL by plane, by train, or by car. Once you have reached Lausanne station, follow the indications given below to find the EPFL.
(You can also check Directions from Official EPFL Page.)
Assuming that your plane lands at one of the Swiss international airports (Geneva, Zurich, or Basel), the most convenient way to go to Lausanne is to take a train from the railway station located at the airport.

Take the highway from Geneva and follow the direction of Lausanne. The trip takes about 30 minutes. Once you pass Morges and arrive in the vicinity of Lausanne, follow “Lausanne Sud” and exit at “UNIL-EPFL”. You then should be on the “route cantonale”, heading west.
Take the highway and follow the direction of Lausanne, until you arrive near Lausanne. Stay on the highway and follow the direction “Genè” until you find a sign indicating “Lausanne Sud”. Then proceed as above.
However, note that parking at the EPFL is usually a problem. The best solution is to use public transportation. If you have to come by car, you should use the official parking place at the “Coupole” in the center of the EPFL.
Assuming that you could manage to reach Lausanne’s railway station, you are about twenty to thirty minutes far from us. You can go to the EPFL by taxi (see below) but we would suggest that you use public transit.
The main train station is here.
Easiest way to reach EPFL from train station is by M1 metro. The M1 metro starts at the Lausanne-Flon stop, 5 minutes uphill walk from the train station. If you prefer not to walk uphill, you can take Metro Bus (MB) which connects train station and metro stop, and has a stop just outside the train station, or the second metro (M2) for one stop uphill.
The tickets for busses and metros are the same; you can buy them at machines at any stop (you cannot buy them inside the transportation vehicles).
Metro operates from around 6:30 until around midnight, see here the schedule and stops. EPFL is at the stop called “EPFL” of the M1 metro line in the direction of Renens-CFF. When you arrive at metro stop, take the underground passage and then take the stairs. Continue straight as long as you can, you will eventually reach the CO building from which there is a diagonal path going slightly to the right. Follow the path to the end and you will arrive at the INM building. Enter the sliding door and you will see the reception in front of you, slightly to the right. Our offices are in buildings INR, INM, and BC, all connected to the INM building. Click on the links in lab addresses to see the EPFL campus map and locations of individual labs.
Tell the taxi driver that you want to go to the “EPFL in Ecublens”. The trip should take between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the traffic and it would cost CHF 30 or more.
